Delusion is a sweet thing to cling on to. It makes us relax. But sometimes, it is just better to face the realities. What life should ideally be like and what it really is, are two different things. We all have some misconceptions which only make us sad later in life.
These misconceptions should be done away with in order to live a happier life.
1. Life can become better overnight
Life does not become better overnight but by continuous effort
It’s silly to think that success happens overnight. It’s a byproduct of everything around us. Success comes in different ways to different people but it’s seldom a short-term phenomenon. Planning, preparation, performance, and the process of keeping it up to the mark rarely happens overnight.

2. Buying that will make my life better
Appeasing your materialistic needs will not make you experience happiness
You don’t need a better job or a better phone in order to be happy. 20 years later, you won’t even remember that you had that good phone. Don’t equate happiness with things. Just because you can not buy an iPhone does not mean that you are unhappy.

3. There is a right way to live life
There is no one right way to live
Don’t let anyone tell you how to live your life. And at the same time, your beliefs and principles may not be ideal for someone else, so don’t tell others the right way to live life.

4. This is going to last forever
The concept of “forever” does not exist
Nothing lasts forever. Neither people in your life, nor you or your temporary goals. What we feel today changes tomorrow.

5. People get what they deserve
People do not always get what they deserve
It is not necessary that you will get what you deserve and expectations like these might prove to be delusional in future. People face terrible things even though they do not deserve it.

6. Everything happens for a good reason
All that happens, does not necessarily happen for the good
“Everything happens for a good reason” is a saying and a way of looking at life. It is not true for everyone. There are unjust things happening all around the world. People aren’t slaughtered for a good reason. A healthy man doesn’t die in a road accident for a good reason. Don’t assume the events that take place in this world are always for good.

7. This idea will change my life
Most people think it’s all about the idea. It’s not.
Everyone has ideas. The hardest part is the execution of it. Ideas are nothing without execution.

8. The good old days will never come back
Your future might turn out to be better than your past
Nostalgia is a bittersweet thing. While it is absolutely fine to think that the past was beautiful, stop lingering there for too long. We all feel that life as a kid was amazing, but it is stupid to want that back. Move on and make your future better.

9. Finding a soulmate will change my life
You may or may not find your soulmate. They may or may not change your life.
Finding a soulmate is not life-changing for everyone. Clinging to the idea that a person will come in your life and all your miseries will just vanish is stupid. It never happens.

10. “Life will get easier with time, work hard now and you can have fun later”
It is not necessarily true
There are different challenges at all turns of life. Struggles of a 20-year-old and a 40-year-old may vary but it won’t necessarily get easy unless you work for it.

I’m just thinking if I have any more wisdom to contribute to this… Still thinking… It ain’t all rainbows and sunshine, so instead of chasing those, just try dancing and singing in the rain

I’d like to think of it this way. If the suicider had thought that things would become alright overnight, he might have lived. Buying things do give happiness for a short while. It need not be anything expensive. Even a little bit of happiness in life counts. 🙂 The notion that if I work hard now, I can have fun later, helps me work hard when it is necessary.
I agree they are all misconceptions. But these misconceptions do keep us going. 🙂

Hey Rangkelz, it’s written that it’s not necessary to buy expensive things in your Life! Yes I agree with you till some extend but it’s written in the post as well that till you work hard you won’t get success.. whatever is your age!
Basically it’s how one looks at it! As they say a coin has two sides.. so I guess the way you look at it is kinda different from mine!
But that’s why you’re awesome! Everybody is Unique! 🙂

On of the greatest posts I read for a while. I so agree! Number 6 is something I always make sure is unserstood too. There is no “good” reason that something happens. There is simply a reason! Wonderful points. Big, big compliment, Akiraa!!!

These are all hard-hitting but true. You can’t predict life.
